Elche goalkeeper Francis Uzoho will not be permitted to link up
with the Nigeria National Team players at their get-together in Asaba
next week after suffering a serious injury in the second half of his
side's 5-1 loss to Cadiz on Sunday.
This morning, he was subjected to additional medical tests when the
team returned to Elche and the test results have confirmed that the
goalkeeper will spend at least four weeks on the sidelines.
Uzoho underwent radiological tests at the Tesla Clinic and it was
determined that the player has a fracture of the seventh costal arch
after suffering a heavy blow to the ribs in yesterday's game.
Apart from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South
Africa, the Deportivo de La Coruña loanee will not be in between the
pipes when Elche face Las Palmas, Alcorcón, Albacete and Córdoba in the
Spanish Segunda División.
Chippa United's Daniel Akpeyi and the inactive Enyimba goalkeeper
Ikechukwu Ezenwa are the two other goalkeepers in the Nigeria squad to
face South Africa on November 17.
